Iwas Dumi, Bawas Dengue

Dengue Alert: It has been reported by the Paranaque City Hall that since January 2011, there has been almost 480 cases of Dengue in Paranaque City. Most alerting is that a cluster outbreak has been traced in Marimar subdivision, prompting the City Hall to take quick action in preventing further outbreaks.

In a meeting at the Sunvalley Barangay last Tuesday, August 23, City Hall representatives met with Purok heads to explain the situation in our area. It was also reported that there were more dengue cases with subdivision residents than those living in depressed areas. The DOH will conduct a larvicide misting spray operation August 25 in the areas were outbreaks were noted

Barangay Sunvalley has also acquired a misting sprayer and is now training staff how to effectively use this. This new machine/method is more effective than "fogging".

NSVHA is now coordinating with them in the scheduling of those Sunvalley homeowners who wish to have their homes sprayed. This will be a free service, First-come-First-serve basis. You just need to purchase the chemicals, which we are currently trying to canvass the best price. If you are interested, please inform the NSVHA office and we will contact you when we will start.

In the meantime, an appeal is being made by Barangay Captain Danny Santos & 10th Council for Dengue Awareness,

"IWAS DUMI, BAWAS DENGUE"

Mag 4S Laban sa Dengue

Search and destroy
* Itaob ang mga bote, lata, at iba pang maaring pagtapunan ng tubig at pangitlugan ng lamok.
* Linisin ang mga alulod.
* Palitan ang tubig sa flower vase minsan sa isang linggo.
* Tiyakin na walang naiipon na tubig sa ilalim ng paminggalan at refrigerator

Self-protection Measures

Say NO to indiscriminate fogging
Mag fogging lamang kung may Dengue Outbreak

Other measures we can partake in preventing an outbreak in our subdivision:

Remove bromeliads from our gardens. Because this plant holds water, it is a highly possible place for mosquitos to breed in. I personally have 4 planted in my garden and I have removed them now. If you have some in pots, at least tip the plants over to dump the water everyday.

Dump any water that accumulates in our garages and gardens including pot plates and old tires.
Also check air conditioning units and gutters for any water accumulated there.
Sweep away fallen leaves as this can accumulate rain water and be breeding grounds too.

Let us all keep conscious of a possible Dengue outbreak and do our part in preventing this from happening in our area.
